Pierce The Veil-

About:
Pierce The Veil is a post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. It was formed in 2006 and continues to make music now, in 2013. The band has released three albums, and is on tour at the moment.

All Albums:
A Flair For The Dramatic (2007)
Self Machines (2010)
Collide With The Sky (2012)

Album:

Collide With The Sky released on July 17th, 2012.
Picture:
I chose this picture because it is the cover of the album. The album art actually has a meaning behind it, ovbiously. The shadow at the top of the house is suppose to represent someone jumping off the house; it represent jumping from the things that are breaking beneath. The shadow could be jumping or floating--it would represent having hope thru all the chaos around you.

Tracks:
May These Noises Startle You In Your Sleep
Hell Above
A Match Into Water
King For A Day (feat. Kellin Quinn)
Bulls In The Bronx
Props And Mayhem
Tangled In The Great Escape
I'm Low On Gas And You Need A Jacket
The First Punch
One Hundred Sleepless Nights
Stained Glass Eyes and Colorful Tears
Hold On Till May
Hold On Till May (Acoustic Version)

Song To Represent The Overall Mood:
Bulls In The Bronx (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WumCI56iYUk)

Hold On Till May (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZEP9ZG6FqY) (Acoustic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0ifFtV7OfY)

Mood For The Album:

This album is a bit more depressing, but the tempo of the music could distract you from the lyrics. Bulls In The Bronx's lyrics are depressing and were written and inspire from a fan of Pierce The Veil who had comminted suicide. I think this song could represent the albums mood as a whole as a saddening, and depressing. Hold On Till May has a depressing vibe to it too because of its lyrics, but it really could give inspiration. I really like listening to this album when I'm down and just upset about something, it gives me a sense of hope and just lifts my spirit.

Lana Del Rey-

About:
Lana Del Rey, or Elizaabeth Grant, is an American singer and songwriter, who specializes in alternativer rock, hip-hop, and pop.

Born To Die (2012)
Paradise (2013)

Album:

Born To Die (2012) was released January 27th, 2012 in the trip hop genre.

Picture:
I chose this picture as a visual aid since its a little dark. You see all these shadows in the back, and it looks haunting--the way the album sounds, it has this beautiful haunting feeling to it.

Tracks:

"Born To Die"
"Off To The Races"
"Video Games"
"Diet Mountain Dew"
"National Anthem"
"Dark Paradise"
"Radio"
"Carmen"
"Million Dollar Man"
"Summertime Sadness"
"This Is What Makes Us Girls"

Song To Represent The Overall Mood:
Dark Paradise

Mood For The Album:

This album is a bit more depressing, but the tempo of the music could distract you from the lyrics. Dark Paradise could represent the album as a whole because of its lyrics, and tempo. Lana's timbre is very unique since her voice is high-pitched, but for this album she intented to lower it a bit. The dynamics for the whole album are pretty low, her voice is at a slow tempo, and her music is a bit for calming. Whenever I listen to this album, it has a pretty haunting melody which makes me feel at ease. Her voice has a serinating sense to it, and is really easy music to just relax to.

Music Media 2013-14

1- What is your favorite band or artist? Why?

I have diffrent favorite artists, but Alyssa Shouse and Demi Lovato would be my two favorite.
Alyssa Shouse is a new singer that only has two songs of her own, but she mostly does cover songs. I believe I like the songs she covers because of her timbre. She has a strong voice that distingushises her from the artists that really sing the song and I even like the way she makes the song diffrent. Her own original songs, Overnight Celebrity and Ribbon, are upbeat and have a fast tempo to them.

I like Demi Lovato's music because of the mood it puts me in. I love all of her music for diffrent reasons: the lyrics, the tempo, the mood it puts me in, and her timbre. Her songs give me this sense of hope and encouragement to just keep going. The tempo of her songs varies, she has slow piano songs, upbeat songs, and some of the songs the bridge changes from soft instruments to drums, guitars, and her voice changes too. She is just amazing.

2- If you could play any musical instrument, which one would it be and why?

If I could play any instrument I would probably gain more knowledge on how to play the piano. I only know songs I want to know, and pick up how they sound, so I would like to know how to perfect that. It takes time to get one whole song memorized, so I'd like to perfect that.

3- Name one nursery rhyme from your childhood that you remember the words to. Do you remember who taught it to you?

A nursery rhyme I remember from my childhood would be the rain song in Spanish. I remember randomly singing it at times with my younger sister whenever we were bored. My grandmother, I believe, taught it to me at a young age, and I haven't forgotten it since.
